25 Reviewers Who Didn’t Bother Following The Recipe But Still Gave It 1-Star.

Online reviews can be very tricky. It can be helpful to read about other people’s experiences before buying something or making a recipe, but, just like the people who write them, reviews can also be unhelpful, unnecessarily cruel, or even downright dumb. One of the best subreddits to emerge in the past few years is about this very thing.

“I Didn’t Have Eggs” features low-rated recipe reviews from people who didn’t actually follow said recipes. They felt no compunction about leaving a nasty review even if they made bizarre substitutions, left out critical ingredients, or simply didn’t even make the dish. Why? Because they could!

1. What’s sweeter than carrots? Oh, I dunno… peaches?!

2. The only mistake was theirs, but sure, give it 1-star.

3. Tell us you’ve never tasted pound cake without saying you’ve never tasted pound cake.

4. Even Betty Crocker wanted to smack them.

5. Since when is there corn in sour cream?

6. Reading is hard.

7. She didn’t make it, but still took the time to review it. Makes sense.

8. He’ll have the frittata, but hold the egg.

9. They’re brownies, Kate. Who said anything about beans?

10. What could have possibly gone wrong? Such a mystery.

11. You first, Barb.

12. Just spit balling here, but maybe get a bigger cake pan?

13. Something’s missing from your Bourbon Chicken dish, you say? What could it be?

14. Sounds like user error.

15. Well, there’s the problem.

16. Was there anything in the recipe that you did have?

17. My apologies to vegans everywhere.

18. Damn it, Wayne.

19. That was more (and less) than we needed to know.

20. Susan made the perfect vanilla pudding! This isn’t it, but she’s not telling how she did it.

21. That’s just… not smart. At all.

22. “If I don’t like it, it shouldn’t exist!”

23. Recipe called for 1 teaspoon of red chili paste, but she added a wee bit more.

24. This guy gets it!

25. And this guy is sick of all of these shenanigans!

We’ll never understand why people leave reviews for recipes they haven’t really followed, but what are ya’ gonna do? Aside from making fun of them on Reddit, that is!

Share this list with a frustrated cook who gets it!
