In classic portraiture, the artist’s subjects often pose stoically without smiling, resulting in a lot of very serious-looking characters looking down their long, aristocratic noses at museum-goers. In the clip below, someone spliced their own mouth over several unsmiling art portraits, then made a gif so the paintings burst into 3-D life, right before our very eyes.
